I lodhur, i dërrmuar me hapin e ngadalshëm,
Oh, ta dinte do të kish sjell’ diçka ai,
Diçka nëpër kosha do t’kish gjet’ patjetër,
Kërkon t’ngroh me gjuhë faqet bërë meit,
As netët me hënë, as ditët me diell,

A BEGGAR DIED
“A beggar died!” a dog shouted so loudly,
And barked “good morning” in its own way.
Weary and worn from his steps, slowly,
From the exhaustion of the night, with eyes in despair.
“A beggar died!” he screams to everyone,
On the alleys, he will no longer see her to give him a crust,
He will no longer feel her hands that caressed him gently,
For him, her death was a key on the door.
Oh, if only he knew, he would bring something,
Something he would surely find in trash bins,
With it, he had shared worries and hunger,
So he would stay by her side like an old friend.
He tries to warm her icy face with his tongue,
“A beggar died today!” he cries in the corner,
And he barks so bitterly as if he would swallow,
The cold heart of this soulless, icy world.
Only the municipality workers buried the beggar,
Her old friend followed her in tears,
She escaped from poverty, saved from violence,
As if she was too much for this desolate world.
Only the stars above mourned for her,
The moon cast its farewell shadow upon,
Was she the wrong figure on this earth?
People didn’t show her any mercy.
The dog’s whimper fades into the sky,
When they took her, nameless, to the grave,
Neither the moonlit nights nor the bright days
They have never seen such bitter tears at the grave.
