Personalisht nuk besoj se pushteti, qofte dhe ne nje vend post-komunist dhe ne tranzicion prej me shume se tri dekadesh si yni, mund te mbahet me dhunen brutale te policise, me ligje kufizuese ndaj protestave, me gjoba financiare apo me citime te modeleve te huaja si franceze, italiane, etj. Atje qytetaret kerkojne me shume te drejta dhe jane te pakenaqur me perkqesimin e nivelit te jeteses ndersa ketu kerkohet qartesisht ndryshimi i modelit qeverises dhe protesta eshte kunder arrogances se qeverise se KM Rama.
Ndalimi i daljes jashte vendit pa vendim Gjykate, nuk ndodh askund ne boten e sotme as ne vendet diktatoriale dhe as ne ato demokratike. Kushdo mund ta verfikoje kete me nje “search” te thjeshte ne Web.

Happening… Does PM Rama not understand that citizens and students are protesting against misgovernance, corruption and social exclusion? (Sunday, 25 October 2026)
Personally, I do not believe that power, even in a post-communist country like ours, which has been in transition for more than three decades, can be maintained through brutal police violence, laws restricting protests, financial penalties or references to foreign models, whether French, Italian or otherwise. In those countries, citizens are demanding more rights and expressing dissatisfaction with declining living standards. Here, the demand is clearly for a change in the model of governance, and the protests are directed against the arrogance of PM Rama’s government.
I believe that attempts to ban social media, effectively the only platforms still outside government control, are counterproductive. As with TikTok, they will end up as a typically Albanian exercise in intimidation, rather than a measure capable of curbing public discontent.
Penalising people simply for being physically present in places where protests are taking place, even when they are not protesters, amounts to a de facto restriction on freedom of movement during demonstrations. I do not believe this has a basis in law or in the Constitution.
Barring citizens from leaving the country without a court order does not happen anywhere in today’s world, whether in dictatorships or democracies. Anyone can verify this with a simple web search.
Pressure on teachers and threats to their jobs are unnecessary and unenforceable. This is simply an attempt to make them bow their heads in the face of the demands of a younger generation seeking greater justice and dignity without having to leave the country, as previous generations have done.
Punishing people for wearing masks or covering their faces, when the police are armed to the teeth and equipped with every modern tool, sounds disproportionate, if not ridiculous.
Online threats? Perhaps we should start chanting “Long live… the Party!” It seems we are not very far from that point. Words do not constitute a criminal offence under any circumstances; in any event, these issues will be discussed further when the amendments to the Criminal Code are debated. Perhaps satire and humour need to be developed further. Perhaps the magazine “Hosteni” needs to be revived, and so on.
Not a word about the failures of PM Rama’s own government, including the spectacular failures that culminated in the removal, by executive fiat, of key figures in local government over the summer, including deputy mayors and municipal department heads, and of 134 directors in central government this weekend. I believe the moment calls for a change in the way the country is governed, not merely the replacement of discredited thieves with new ones.
Not a word of sympathy from PM Rama for the young people subjected to brutal violence, those lying in hospital with broken legs and eyes gouged out. Not a word about the causes of the protests; police violence against protesters; officers without personal identification numbers; civilians armed with batons acting as a parallel militia; the unprecedented brutality and the hunting down of minors, protesters or otherwise, through the city streets as if they were wild animals in a forest; police stations filled with detainees; courts refusing to keep people in custody without evidence and solely on the basis of reports by politically partisan police officers; or the silence of the prosecution service and SPAK.
I believe general elections are approaching, but this nervousness on the part of those in power, and these attempts to preserve the status quo, represent the worst possible course to take.
