Më 27 gusht 1923, u vra Enrico Tellini, gjenerali italian që kryesonte Komisionin Ndërkombëtar për përcaktimin e kufirit shqiptaro-grek dhe që synonte që Janina të përfshihej brenda kufijve të Shqipërisë.
Tellini ishte njohës i shkëlqyer i Çamërisë dhe kishte përgatitur harta e dokumente të rëndësishme mbi banorët, gjuhën, etnografinë dhe historinë e saj. Më 27 gusht, një komando greke vrau në rrugën Janinë–Kakavijë Tellinin dhe anëtarë të tjerë të delegacionit ndërkombëtar.
Gjatë komunizmit, emri i tij u la në harresë dhe shtatorja e Tellinit, vepër e Odise Paskalit, e ngritur në Tiranë nga Mbreti Zog, u hoq nga regjimi.
Tellini la pas qindra harta ushtarake e civile, një pasuri e çmuar për dokumentimin historik të Çamërisë.

On August 27, 1923, Enrico Tellini was killed. The Italian general was head of the International Commission tasked with determining the Albanian-Greek border and sought to have Ioannina included within Albania’s borders.
Tellini was an excellent scholar of Chameria and had prepared important maps and documents on its population, language, ethnography, and history. On August 27, a Greek commando killed Tellini and other members of the international delegation on the Ioannina–Kakavijë road.
During the communist era, his name was largely erased from public memory, and Tellini’s statue, created by renowned Albanian sculptor Odhise Paskali and erected in Tirana by King Zog, was removed by the regime.
Tellini left behind hundreds of military and civilian maps, a valuable historical record documenting the villages and towns of Chameria.
